Comparison

Handover apps for UK car businesses, compared

Several apps offer a guided walk-round, damage marks, two signatures and offline use. KeySigned does those too, and seals the record so any later change shows. Your customer can check the seal for themselves with the evidence pack, in an up-to-date browser.

What KeySigned gives you

  • Sealed, so any later change showsOnce you've both signed, every photo, mark and reading is fingerprinted and sealed with a key held on your iPhone. Change one pixel or one mileage figure later and the seal breaks.
  • Your customer checks it themselvesSend the evidence pack and your customer checks the record in their own up-to-date browser, at keysigned.app/verify. No account, and nothing is uploaded.
  • Both of you sign, in personYou and your customer both sign on your iPhone. It locks only when both signatures are on the current version.
  • Works with no signalCapture, damage marks, signatures, locking and sealing all work with no connection.
  • No KeySigned accountNo sign-in and no upload. Records stay on your iPhone until you choose to share or export them.
  • One flat priceFrom launch, Solo will be £14.99 a month or £119.99 a year, VAT included, however many handovers you record. There's no per-report charge, and the return leg of a car you've collected is never charged.
  • Out and back, side by sideThe return photos line up with the collection ones, and the return record carries the collection's fingerprint.
  • A sale handover modeSelling a car? You and the buyer sign a sealed delivery record. It's a delivery record, not a receipt or a contract of sale.

Which kind of app fits you

  • You want your customer to be able to check the record themselves, with nothing uploaded and no account. That's what KeySigned is built for.
  • You need Android, a web dashboard or staff logins. Several apps in the table offer some or all of those. KeySigned is iPhone only, with no accounts.
  • You want the lowest starting price. See the price row: several of these start lower than KeySigned.

What to check before you choose

  • Do you both sign on the phone, on the same version of the record?
  • Does it work with no signal?
  • Do you need an account, and who holds the photos, and for how long?
  • Are collection and return linked, and can you see them side by side?
  • What is damage marked on: the photos of that car, or a diagram?
  • What does your customer receive?
  • Can your customer check the record for themselves, and how?
  • How is it priced: per job, monthly or once?
  • Does it run on iPhone, Android or both?

If checking matters to you, ask any app you compare how your customer would check its record.

Side by side

KeySigned isn't on the App Store yet: its column describes the app as it will launch. As at 7 November 2026, from each vendor's own App Store listing, Google Play listing or website, linked in each cell. Prices and features change, so check with the vendor. "Not described" means we didn't find it on the pages linked, not that the app can't do it. App Store and Google Play prices are as shown to UK buyers. We re-check these facts at least every 30 days; the next check is due by 7 December 2026.

The first column stays in place. Scroll the table sideways to see every app.

App by app

Each section compares KeySigned with what that app's own listing and site, as linked, described on 7 November 2026.

Car HandoversListed on the App Store as Car Handover.

What it is. Collection and delivery records for drivers, handover agents and transport teams moving cars, vans, minibuses, artics and motorbikes. On iPhone and Android.

Where KeySigned is different. KeySigned seals the record, and your customer checks the seal themselves with the evidence pack, in an up-to-date browser. Damage is marked on the photos of that car rather than a diagram, and records stay on your iPhone with no account.

Where it may suit you better. Car Handovers also runs on Android, puts your company logo and colour on its reports, and has checklists that change with the vehicle type.

Checked 7 November 2026: its App Store, privacy policy, Google Play.

Transport ToolsVehicle Handover app, by Transport Tools UK.

What it is. Transport Tools' Vehicle Handover app is for recovery and vehicle transport businesses: collection and delivery records with photos, signatures and PDF reports, on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Where KeySigned is different. There's no account: records stay on your iPhone, and your customer checks the sealed record themselves with the evidence pack.

Where it may suit you better. Its plans start at £4.99 a month for 80 jobs, it runs on Android, staff get their own sign-ins, and it emails the customer's copy for you. With KeySigned you send it yourself, by WhatsApp, email, iMessage or AirDrop.

Checked 7 November 2026: its App Store, product page, terms, Google Play.

vehReportsMatic Automotive Limited.

What it is. Vehicle inspections, rental agreements and driver licence checks for UK rental operators, dealers, fleets and workshops, on iPhone, iPad, Android and the web.

Where KeySigned is different. With KeySigned there is no account and nothing to sync: records stay on your iPhone. Your customer checks the sealed record themselves with the evidence pack.

Where it may suit you better. It's £1 a report ex VAT, with free DVLA, MOT and history lookups, rental agreements and unlimited users. This version of KeySigned doesn't look up a car's registration or MOT history.

Checked 7 November 2026: its website, pricing, App Store, mobile app page.

TradeAppraiseTradeSales.

What it is. Vehicle appraisals for dealers and car buying services, and condition reports at collection and delivery for vehicle movements.

Where KeySigned is different. Your customer checks the sealed record themselves with the evidence pack. KeySigned works on your iPhone with no account or dashboard to run, and damage is marked on the photos of that car.

Where it may suit you better. It starts from 50p an appraisal, works without an internet connection, offers branding and valuations, and lets sales managers price appraisals remotely, from a dashboard.

Checked 7 November 2026: its website.

TradeAppraise's condition report page wasn't available on 7 November 2026. On 28 October 2026 it also described collection and delivery inspections compared side by side, with new damage flagged. We'll check it again at the next re-check.

Damage ControlAsset Protect Ltd.

What it is. Vehicle damage logs, checklists and condition reports for fleets, rentals, garages and dealers, with a dashboard for teams.

Where KeySigned is different. With KeySigned you and your customer both sign in person on your iPhone, and your customer checks the sealed record themselves with the evidence pack.

Where it may suit you better. It's £1 a report or £1 a vehicle a month, runs on Android, has a web dashboard for teams, and lets you build your own checklists.

Checked 7 November 2026: its website, pricing, App Store, Google Play.

Car Handover ProListed on the App Store and Google Play.

What it is. Handover, return and private sale documents on the phone, with no account, for small rental businesses, workshops, camper owners and private sellers. In German and English.

Where KeySigned is different. Your customer checks the sealed record themselves with the evidence pack. On iPhone Pro models with LiDAR, a spatial scan puts each mark on the measured surface of the car, and a sale handover is a delivery record signed by you and the buyer.

Where it may suit you better. It's £9.99 once, with no subscription, it also needs no account, and it compares a return with the handover.

Checked 7 November 2026: its App Store, Google Play.

Each app, one to one

Where KeySigned fits, and where it doesn't

  • It isn't on the App Store yet. It's coming soon, for iPhone in the UK.
  • It's iPhone only: an iPhone that supports ARKit, with iOS 17 or later.
  • Each person who uses it, on their own Apple Account, needs their own Solo subscription. There are no staff sign-ins.
  • You both need to be there. A record needs both signatures, so a key drop with nobody there isn't covered.
  • Records stay on your iPhone and aren't backed up, until you export them.
  • This version doesn't look up a car's registration details or MOT history, and it records photos, not video.
  • The time comes from the phone's clock, and the seal isn't an identity check.

Other ways to do it

  • On paper. Our free printable form, and where paper stops: car handover form, paper or app.
  • Phone photos. What photos show on their own, and what a sealed record adds: are phone photos enough?
  • General form-builder apps. You design your own vehicle form, and keep it up to date yourself.
  • A qualified timestamp. If you need one under eIDAS, some general photo-evidence services offer it. KeySigned's seal isn't a qualified timestamp: its time comes from the phone's clock.
  • Moving cars for a living. Transport apps are built for that job.

How it works

Demonstration record, shortened. The car and some screens are illustrations.

  1. The walk-round

You and your customer walk round the car together. KeySigned guides you to eight photos, one from each angle, and checks each for focus, light and framing. You mark any existing damage on the photos of that car and add a close-up.

  2. Two signatures

You sign, then hand the iPhone to your customer, who signs the same version of the record. Any change after signing needs fresh signatures from you both.

  3. The seal

KeySigned seals the record with a key held on your iPhone. Any later change to a photo, mark or signature shows when the record is checked. Your customer gets the record page and the .zip evidence pack, and checks the .zip in an up-to-date browser at keysigned.app/verify. Records stay on your iPhone and aren't backed up, so export the ones you need.

Each opens the checker with a demonstration record. Nothing is uploaded.

Pricing

Solo, from launch

£14.99 a month

or £119.99 a year, VAT included. Two-week free trial for new subscribers, then it renews automatically until you cancel. To avoid a charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or a renewal ends: in iPhone Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Covers the Apple Account that subscribes.

Coming soon to the App Store

Handovers in progress
Without an active plan, you can still finish, sign and seal a handover within 48 hours of starting it. After that, it needs a plan to sign and seal, and it waits on your iPhone until then.
Return legs
The return leg of a car you've already collected is never charged.
Your records
Records you've already sealed stay readable, checkable and exportable whatever happens to your plan.

Questions
